October 13 (7pm-10pm) Gather loves the Gillies - and it's a great night out with food and wine... check them out online and make a reservation if you can for great wine, amazing inventive food and a wonderful night out in the Village of Arroyo Grande - no other wine bar in the area gives you all this! About the band: The Gillie Wheesels evolved from a larger group. As the four of us shifted, we began to gather a sound and a presence that people gravitated towards. Breathing a new energy into traditional music from Scottish composers like Robert Burns and Tannahill, we soon began to have more gigs up and down the central coast. People would often comment how much fun we seemed to be having during performances and how much they enjoyed feeling like they were along for the ride. David is an artist and composer, Guy is the balladeer and previous cheiftan of the scottish society, Barry takes time from behind an executive desk to gig and do studio work and Frank plays the same accordian he did at age 11 long before he got the music degree hidden in the file cabinet. Our level of musicianship shows through in the harmonies and arrangements of songs that others call old and traditional. When you have a diverse group of musical backgrounds ranging from reggae to classical, the flavor is going to be different. It's that difference that people have responded to and anxiously await our album coming out in 2012. http://www.sonicbids.com/epk/epk.aspx?epk_id=339189&name=music
