In collaboration with Cuesta Book of the Year, San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is hosting a Flower Arranging Workshop to coincide with the book, “The Language of Flowers” by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. Join Cuesta Professor Carol Ziehl as you learn the art of floral arranging, focusing on flowers that grow well in our area, and the meaning behind those flowers. Bring your own clippers. Nouveau Life Coaching's one-day workshop for women. Participants will be given an overview of important key areas on a “Life Wheel,” learn to develop a life purpose statement, and will generate smart goals in order to reach their defined purpose. Women will explore their special gifts, endowed by their Creator, and will work individually and in a small group to uncover the unique and specially designed masterpiece they really are. March 2.

On March 2 the University Jazz Band will host a concert featuring everything from authentic performances of traditional jazz standards to cutting-edge repertoire of world music, hip-hop and more. From the big band “wall of sound” to spontaneous interplay in jazz combos, the Cal Poly Jazz Bands respect the tradition while expanding its boundaries.

Shades of Green is the title for the new show opening at the Art Center Morro Bay on Thursday, February 21 and running through Monday, April 1. Featured artists Diane Henderson and Ray Atzet present acrylic and watercolor paintings around a theme. A reception for the artists that is open to the public will take place Sunday, February 24 from 2 to 4 PM. Art Center Morro Bay is at 835 Main Street in Morro Bay. For more information call 772-2504.

The Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo Daybreak invites the community to join them for a good cause at their "Fun-As-Hell Casino Night" on March 2. There will be gaming, a Santa Maria-style barbecue, silent auction, fifty-fifty raffle, and a roving "prize patrol." Live music and dancing will also be included in the fun. Proceeds benefit the Rotary's Community Grants Program. No tickets will be sold at the door.
