February 2 (8pm) On Feb. 2 at 8 pm, Maestro Nowak has an amazing evening with the San Luis Obispo Symphony planned for Classics III: “Scheherazade.” The Symphony will present 1,001 Arabian Nights set to music in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s colorful and exotic “Scheherazade." Mozart’s “Great G minor Symphony” will round out this romantic night of classics with the Central Coast's favorite Symphony orchestra. She will show the beautiful and unique colors on the inside and outside of the butterfly wings and explain how these colors, patterns, and markings are used for protective coloration, warning, mimicry, and more, and will display her own photos taken in Costa Rica, Belize, the Caribbean, Mexico, and the United States. A Night in New Orleans Masquerade Ball on Feb. 9 in the historic San Luis Obispo Masonic Lodge. Proceeds benefit the Noor Foundation. This is gonna be a stone cold Gumbo Ya Ya. February 9 (3pm) Come Feb. 9 to the parking lot in front of Volumes of Pleasure while we usher in the year of The Snake. Astrology is a part of all cultures. Just as most of us know our sign in Western Astrology, most people in Asian cultures know their animal sign. The Cal Poly Lion Dance Team will perform a blessing for our community and for Volumes of Pleasure, a ritual that dates back centuries. In times past the dance was used to scare away monsters and evil spirits.

February 9 (6PM-8:30PM) The City of Pismo Beach, Recreation Division is now accepting registrations for the annual Father-Daughter Dance. This dance is for young ladies ages three to eighteen years old, and the special man in her life. The event takes place on Saturday February 9th from 6pm-8:30pm at the Pismo Beach Veterans Hall. Pre-registration is required by January 31st, 2013 for this enjoyable evening. This event sells out each year, so be sure to register early!
