Two correctional officers with the Salinas Valley State Prison in Monterey County were arrested in connection with the death of Alvaro Jaramillo Medrano.
According to a San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department press release, local officials issued arrest warrants for 35-year-old Sergio Aranda of Salinas, and 36-year-old Travis Woolf of San Miguel. Both men are correctional officers with the prison.
Medrano was found unconscious when Sheriff's deputies responded to a Sept. 7 call of a fight between two groups in front of the Elkhorn Bar in San Miguel. He was later transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.
The results of a coroner's report were still pending as of press time.
Aranda and Woolf were arrested on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter.
