Weekly Poll
Should the Arroyo Grande Cemetery start watering its grass again?

Yes. It looks ugly and that's disrespectful to the families who come there to mourn.
They should water it a little more, but stay mindful of the state's drought.
No they need to find an alternative like dryscaping.
Leave it as is. Saving water is more important than aesthetics.

James Bruce is a hero!

How awesome must it be to win a Hero Award? That’s just what the California Arts Council presented to SLO High School teacher James Bruce on Monday, March 25, during the state finals of Poetry Out Loud, a recitation competition held at high schools throughout California. The inaugural award was established by the California Arts Council to highlight the efforts of teachers, coaches, and others who make the program happen.

Bruce, who works with English learners, was nominated for his use of poetry as a literacy tool in both ESL classes and the regular English curriculum, for his ability to motivate students to find their poetic voice, and for his work in integrating English learners into the school, finding materials and techniques to help them advance to the level of native speakers. Way to be a hero, James. ∆
