SLOMA auctioning art June 5 and July 3

If you’ve ever thought about buying works of art, you’re in luck—SLOMA is holding an event featuring several pieces available for sale, such as Don LaViere Turner’s painting, Woman and Bull. It—along with many other gems—needs a new home.

After review by a special committee, some works are added into the museum’s permanent collection. However, other works, regardless of their value/artistic merit, don’t fit the criteria to be included in that collection of contemporary and historical art. The ones that don’t fit the criteria will be displayed and sold to the public.

Two live auctions of Off the Walls artwork will be held in conjunction with Art After Dark on June 5 and July 3. A “take it home now” price will be posted for buyers who wish to take the painting straight off the walls without a bidding war.

The event starts June 5 and ends July 3. Admission is free. SLOMA’s hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except for Tuesdays through July 4. For more information, visit sloma.org. For questions about the event, contact Rebecca Leduc at 543-8562
